Innovations for Learning’s TutorMate Online Literacy Program has been rapidly expanding during the 2015-16 school year, reaching an unprecedented milestone of 3,000 tutors! Over 3,000 students will be receiving the critical literacy support they need to foster their growth as readers and as learners. Not only will they have the opportunity to improve their comprehension, fluency, phonics and spelling, but they will also benefit from the mentorship of a caring adult who is invested their education.

According to the U.S. Department of Education’s National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), only 34% of the nation’s fourth grade students were able to read at or above Proficient level in 2013. Failure to read proficiently is linked to higher rates of school dropout and criminal involvement. Improving literacy in low-income, underserved communities can have a dramatic impact on students’ likelihood to succeed in school and beyond.

While it is certainly an accomplishment to reach 3,000 student and tutor pairs, thousands of students still remain, students who could glean powerful benefits from the support of TutorMate. Help our students access the foundational literacy support they need in order to thrive. Get your company involved as a corporate partner today and start tutoring in one of the 17 districts we serve – Atlanta, Baltimore, Broward County, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Duval County, Houston, Jackson, Philadelphia, NYC, Oakland, Santa Ana, Seattle and Washington DC.
